Wrestling is and can be fun. It helps a young person become self-reliant and disciplined. Wrestling is an individual sport, but also a team sport on many levels. OPP athletes believe that anything you accomplish on the mat is your reward - you only get out what you put in. Wrestling helps athletes build self-confidence, self-discipline, mental and physical strength, and it helps a child to think and react by himself or herself without the help of another. In other words, wrestlers learn to stand on their own two feet. Wrestling also helps athletes grow in other sports because they learn hand/eye coordination, and mind/body movement. We encourage a family atmosphere at the Pioneers, because we believe just that - The Pioneers are a family. Once a Pioneer always a Pioneer.
